Back to School
Wow, the past 2 months have flown by and it was back to the grind this morning. This week will be ok as the kids don’t come back until next week. My room is a huge mess. They painted the school this summer and it looks much better but our rooms look like tornado central. So it will take a lot to get my room in tip top shape before the students return but hey it has to get done so I will handle it. Our school has a lot of staffing changes and it will be interesting to see how we all mesh. We have a new principal who wants to be called Dr.X and that seems like such a strange request. So it is my request that he calls me Mrs.B, it works for me as I am still in the stage where I like hearing my new last name :) So hopefully he won’t be a pain. Only time will tell.
Other work craziness b/c truly back to school=back to crazy. The assistant who shares “our room” left today at 1:15! Can you believe that? An hour and 15 mins early but no worries it is ok as she worked through her lunch. Give me a break. First of all we were allowed to come in at 8 which is an hour later than normal and we have 30 mins for lunch not an hour. Who the heck is she the CEO so she just adjust the day as she sees fit. I mean what a huge abuse, I so want her to get called out on it. I mean it is the first day back, what does that say about your work ethic?
The second of the work insanity is we went on a bus tour of the community. Yeah, on a big yellow cheese bus. The tour guide was kind enough to point out the palatial homes, Section-8 dwellings, the projects that are patroled by police cars with blaring sirens and joint entrance stategies, the Asian apartments where people can only say our school name in English and well I could go on but why you get the gest.
So basically once you enter the halls summer is a long long time ago.
And I will be the first to admit that school kicked my butt. I came home so drained. My nap helped but I am not looking forward to tomorrow and the work that is waiting for me.

Good Health
All too often we take our good health for granted. Today I visited a great friend of mine in the hospital. It was so crazy scary. She is really going through a serious medical situation and it just seems unreal that someone so young can be facing something like this situation. It was so unexpected and there are still so many questions and not enough answers. I hope that they discover what is going on with her very soon. She has already spent about a week in the hospital and being in a hospital is pretty depressing. I pray for her speedy recovery and I am so miserable that she has to be going through all of this.

I am Hip Hop
I think that is how Lil Wayne feels but I would have to agree. I have grown up to hip hop, I mark events in my life according to hip hop. I wouldn’t have it any other way. It has been there to get me hyped to clean, go out with my girls, ringtones tell me it’s Z and if there was a soundtrack to my life it would be filled with hip hop so I couldn’t let the disappointment I felt yesterday consume me. Heck it wasn’t even a few hours before hip hope redeemed itself. Check out the Big Boi and Mary J collabo to see how hip hop is everything I need it to be and more.

Why you gotta let me down?
I am so disappointed with my boy Ludacris, Luda! I really like him and think that he is a smart, witty, innovative rapper but his latest song drops the ball. If you don’t know the song- it is basically a song where he puts his support behind Obama and disses everyone else. He says about Hillary that “Hillary hated on you so that B**** is irrelevant, Jesse talking slick and apologizing for what, If you said it then you meant it how you want head or gut”. Now normally I like his raps but this one stinks on so many levels. First and foremost I hate anything that Obama has to “reject and denounce” and this would definately fall into that catergory. It also is pretty weak lyrically, he could have done an Obama song with much more creativity and depth. He also gives the media especially outlets like Fox and that crybaby Elisabeth on the View a reason to malign my man Barack. So not cool.
So Luda has really let down on this one. If you have an issue about the ways of the world at least be smart about it like my boy Cube. I mean his “Why We Thugs” points to his issues w/ the government:
” They give us guns and drugs
Then wonder why in the f*** we thugs

or smoke some hay

Heck even back in his youth Cube was smart about his criticism. Check out his early stuff if you want proof. So Luda you know you could have done better. Heck you should have put more effort into a song about Obama. Given him something he could dust off his shoulders to and put on rotation on his ipod and this song failed miserably. Great day w/ my honey
So D and I hung out all afternoon. Granted we spent some of that time doing what we love to do napping , but it was a good afternoon. D got us Chinese food and we watched American Gangster. D has seen it before a couple of times and we own it but I haven’t seen it myself. I mean I rarely watch movies, I am not really that into them and if I am going to watch something it should be something more along the lines of Sweet Home Alabama. I mean you can’t go wrong with something starring my girl Reese. So anyway D has been bugging me to watch it with him for awhile so I went along. So my review of the movie is that it was entertaining enough. There were several scenes that I had to watch through my fingers and bug D for play by play but overall it was a good story. One thing I will say is that Denzel Washington is a beast. He can act his butt off. I had no problem seeing him as a cool, laid-back gangster. He just personifies any role from Malcolm X to John Q to Hurricane he puts it down. So the movie was good and hanging out w/ D was even better.

Maybe I missed my calling
I am a forensic science, murder solving psycho. I think that I have seen every type of criminal show that is on cable televison. I mean every.single.one. I think it’s borderline obsession. D just shakes his head and leaves the room. I can’t help myself. I enjoy watching the one clue that turns the “perfect murder” into someone doing life. So perhaps I should have gone into that field instead of education. I mean teaching a kid to do something is not too shabby but solving a murder in The First 48 is something so huge. I mean there are aspects that gross me out; seeing bullet entry or exit wounds is always a stomach turner but overall it is a pretty cool gig. So who knows maybe a career change is in the future, Trust me if there is a crime to solve you would want me on your team!!

I’m having a boy!!!
Can’t believe it & I know it is a duplicate to the other Oh Baby but everything else that is going on in my life pails in comparison. I am going to have a little D, wait that is scary better to focus on the good 
I have a future building forts, learning about dinosaur and going to pee wee football games. So fun. It feels completly unreal and I am so excited!!!

Frantic Friday
I think my ride does not like last days. On the last day of school I got a flat tire and on the last day of this creative writing class my car wouldn’t start. I actually woke up early to go to cleaners- you know in by 9 out by 5- and I missed it. Ugh. Anyway my ride wouldn’t start and I had to call Geico for a jump. Oh well that is some way to start a day.
I am really looking forward to the weekend. I can’t wait to sleep in tomorrow morning. Yes, it is sad that the highlight of my weekend is getting some zzz’s. Anyway we have family night on Saturday and we are going to some Indian restaurant so that should be fun. I am supposed to hang out w/TMJ on Sunday so it should be a pretty full weekend.
Now if only I can get through these last 2 hours of creative writing with these kiddos.

Riddle me this
What is worse than a Monday morning? A Monday morning during the summer when you should be sleeping in but instead you are teaching a class. UGH. I am not going to complain too much but boy do I wish I were rolling out of bed at 9:30 instead of talking about plot! I will say that the students are very engaged but sleep is sleep. I am comforted by the fact that this is my last summer doing this, thank you Baby B. Next summer I may not be sleeping in but I will be making a difference with my own baby and not someone else’s child.
Why are baby pictures of the stars so damn important? I mean I enjoy celebrity watching probably more than the next person but good grief millions for baby pictures, just seems ridiculous. And I mean within a couple of weeks Angelina Joile, Matthew McCanahey(?) and Nicole Kidman all have kids- not to mention any B list celebrities and the price of Angelina’s baby pics puts Nicole’s baby pics to shame and truthfully you could insert any baby picture and we wouldn’t know the difference. Heck it takes months to realize who actually babies you know resemble so who the heck cares about celebrity babies. It is just insane!
